The story of the cat-stalking monster...

Hanging around outside the cat's lair looking rather conspicuous in bright orange...

First problem easily solved then!

In search of the elusive beast in the jungle.

A rare sighting, now can he get closer?

Some friends & foes met along the way...

Sneaking into the beast's lair...

Got ya!

Once the beast was captured he went off to play badminton, job done!

Willows Farm Centre

We went to Willows Farm Centre at London Colney today - near St Albans.  No doubt we'll be getting a season ticket soon!!  Here are a few memorable moments...

Meeting an owl and stroking it.
En route to the maize maze - we didn't get lost even though Claire was directing!

Riding his first tractor.
Meeting a donkey - he was more impressed by the sheep pretending to be goats (in his eyes anyway!)

And the best part of the day....

The food was pretty horrendous but the ice creams were lovely.

apple, kite, hippo, llama, out, owl, twit tuwhoo, train, choo choo (the cutest thing ever!) - some new words for Bruno.

Olympics cartoon - Bruno's current favourite thing on TV.  As soon as he hears the music he rushes in to see the monster slapping his arm as he goes - the sign for crocodile!

Meg and Mog - Bruno's new favourite book.  We've read it hundreds of times in the past 2 weeks and its become such a favourite that we've succombed to buying it!

Vauxhall City Farm

En route to the farm spotting buses, planes & lorries!  The farm is rather small but have a wide variety of different animals.  The place was wet & muddy so a change of clothes all round when we got home!  The turkey was a bit scary.  Absolutely huge and he kept following us everywhere flashing his feathers!

The farm also have a couple of allotments and gardens which Bruno liked walking around.  Claire mistakenly showed him a snail which he promptly picked up and licked.  At least he didn't bite!  Neither Bruno nor snail were pleased about the experience!!

The garden and finding "that" snail.  Thankfully the snail was fully recovered by the time we walked back.

Finally making friends with the turkey - braver than me!!

Typical Bruno finding water ;o)  You could use him as a divining rod!

Bruno's new toy.  No one is allowed to touch it and heaven forbid you try & carry him and fold it up so you can get to where you are going faster!  At Kew today he just kept going over the hump and back again.  We had to walk off and leave him to it to encourage him to walk away too.

Shame about the completely girly colour & pattern but cheap on ebay so you can't complain too much!

Playing with Torin at the V&A garden.

15th

We've got a few new words to add to the list!  Bus, lorry, kite and "yea".  Its so nice to finally ask Bruno if he'd like a drink and to hear him say yes - he's been saying no for a long time whilst throwing a strop!  He had a special treat from Aunty Susan today and then stole a few more when we weren't looking too!  Can you guess what it was?

He's also learning more sounds and will now say "nee-naa" when he plays with his fire engine / ambulance or police car.  He also says a chute "choo choo" for the push along train, bless!

How could I forget, he's also started naming some of his food.  He's clucked at the chicken curry and today held up his broccoli and called it "coli".

10th

So we have yet more words and signs.  Bruno can now say his own name and (finally!) will say mama when asked to.  He also learnt to say "out" as in of his highchair or the bath.  This is coupled with the "all done" BSL sign albeit one handed.  He often goes back for more food though after he's got out so it doesn't necessarily mean he's finished eating!!

8th

Demolishing mummy's fortress!

Bruno has a few more words to his belt now and some noises too - maaa (goat), baa-a-a-a (sheep), donkey, peacock, eyeore (donkey), change (he also does his version of the change sign when we do it, so now just have to get him to tell me when he needs a change rather than when he's having one already!), nose (he pushes it very hard!), knee, toes, horse, ba bawk (chicken noise but oddly he won't say chicken), pasta, panda, ow (said whilst slapping his head!) and my favourite he's got a phrase - "here you are" pronounced hya but its when he's giving you something rather than when he picks up the phone so definitely new :o)

We went to Battersea Children's Zoo today despite the rain to see some animals - that's where Bruno learnt peacock and donkey!  In fact he was more interested in the planes and helicopters flying overhead!

What's he spotted?

He said they were ducks so I didn't want to confuse him.

He liked the pigs but wasn't as impressed as Claire with the monkeys

Not sure this was really a donkey - didn't seem scruffy enough really but we pretended it was.

Bruno's favourite part was the park though - in fact the bark in the park!

3rd

Well I've decided to write a list of Bruno's words as a starter for August.  He's going great guns and learning at least one a day it seems.  So here's the list in no specific order:

cow, dog, duck, cat, bird, giraffe, ta, elephant, teddy, lights, baby, lion, bear, ants, tree, dada, ball, catch, hot, door, boo, up, down, water, star, beetle, book, helicopter (well copter!), tractor, ready, worms, boat, flower, window, clock, quack quack, spider, moo, oink oink, bat, ladybird, Chloe, caterpillar, rainbow, bee, shoe, butterfly, tiger, goat, meow,

No doubt there are a few more to pick up somewhere,  I'll keep you posted on his new ones :o)

One of Bruno's favourite things is to drink out of the water bottle!
