Adam and Claire got married at Wedderburn Castle in Duns in the Scottish Borders. Here are the rooms where the party was held:
The Entrance hall
Not much happened in the entrance hall - far too cold! We did, however, have our formal group pictures taken on the stairs. Behind the table that you can see here is a door that leads to the kitchen.
The kitchen Dinner was served in here on the Friday evening, as will breakfast & lunch on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. John, the chef, prepared some excellent meals for us all and provided lots of cake for us to nibble on throughout the day.
The games room Along the corridor from the kitchen was the games room. Most of the men seemed to congregate here on Friday night!
The ballroom
The ballroom is on the first floor. This is the view of the front of the ballroom. Our ceremony was held at the top of the room between the two middle pillars.
The morning room
With the door to the ballroom open, everyone was able to hear the Ceilidh music without being drowned out.
The drawing room From the Dining room, the Drawing Room can be reached via the Gallery, or, more intriguingly, across a mezzanine floor which bridges the stair hall. Most people relaxed in here both evenings, with a Triv game going on in front of the fire on Friday night.
The dining room
Dinner was served in here on Saturday evening. Adam and Claire sat in front of the fire, surrounded by their family.
The bedrooms A number of our guests were able to stay in the bedrooms at the castle. Here are some photos of their rooms:
And our room: All of the rooms were incredibly spacious with luxurious bathrooms.
A number of our guests stayed outside the castle in either the cottages or nearby B&Bs. If you were one of these people and would like to rate the accommodation, please contact us. Please see our acknowledgements page for links to the B&Bs. |
